"The goal of this lesson is to help pre-kindergartners develop independence and grow resilient by learning to manage every aspect of themselves—their thoughts, actions, and feelings."
To guide the students in applying this to self-management, the teacher reminds them that their thoughts lead to actions, and those actions lead to feelings which lead to more thoughts. They learn that they need to keep thinking and acting positively to do self-management and feel positive about themselves.
The whole class sings and dances along to the Positive Action songs titled, "Thoughts-Actions-Feelings" and “Managing Me!” The optimistic and energetic beats and lyrics of the songs help the students remember the lesson concepts while having fun. They end the lesson by doing a reinforcement activity about having positive thoughts and doing positive actions. The students learn that keeping a Happy Circle helps them manage themselves. It also helps them feel good about themselves!
