This evidence-based SEL lesson promotes teamwork, emotional growth, and self-improvement in kindergarten students through a fun SEL project. The project is a "clean-up day" in school, where students can work together and achieve their shared objectives.
For instance, children share a classroom, and their common goal is to clean it as a practice of self-management. Students accomplish this objective by achieving small goals of managing time and energy, sharing tasks with others, and being honest about their abilities.
In this lesson, students spend the entire day working on their shared goals and applying the social and emotional skills they have learned throughout the year. Through this project, they realize that working together promotes unity, productivity, and meaningful relationships that contribute to positive self-concept and social-emotional development.
By the end of the lesson, kindergarten students learn the value of teamwork, cooperation, and goal-setting in self-improvement. They understand the importance of listening to each other's ideas, taking turns, and sharing responsibilities. They also learn that cooperation creates a supportive and inclusive learning environment where everyone feels valued and appreciated.
